“Seek help through patient perseverance and prayer…..” [2:153]

Assalaamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

I hope you are well.

Going through a decrease in imaan, for a believer, is a horrible experience, where you are left lost, depressed, without purpose and sad.

But there is hope.

Through your unhappiness at the state of your heart and your awareness of it, you are already in a better place than one who may deny the disease or imperfection which is within their heart.

Recently, I went through such an experience, learning a lot along the way.

I learned that:

– Allah(SWT) is TRULY the only One Who can grant you relief and no other being can do the same.

– it will not last forever, if you have a sincere intention within to want to change.
“Verily, with hardship comes ease.”
This quote, used often, shows the certainty of “a light at the end of the tunnel”. It also gives us all the ability to keep fighting through hardship, knowing for certain that it will be over and there is no argument about it.

– being insincere in your intentions only makes you stray further away from the path.

– everything bad that happens to you, apart from trials, are because of your own deeds.

and last but not least,

the best way that I have found to check your heart is to take some time out by yourself and really analyse your heart, deeds, words and actions.

Everything in life is a test so let’s do our best by revising a lot then putting our knowledge to good use in the examination itself.

P.S. no-one is perfect so don’t be TOO angry at yourself when you slip slightly.

JazakAllahu khairan.

Assalaamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
